- Goa Achieves 100% Functional Literacy
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced that the state had achieved 100% functional literacy on 30th May 2025, during Goa’s 39th Statehood Day celebrations. The 100% functional literacy attained under the ULLAS-Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram, also known as the New India Literacy Programme (NILP).
Key highlights of Goa’s achievement :
- Second State to Achieve Full Literacy: Goa is the second state after Mizoram to surpass the NEP 2020’s 95% literacy benchmark, achieving a literacy rate of 99.7%.
- Community Participation: This success is attributed to the efforts of government, community volunteers, and citizens. And a total of 82 panchayats declared 100% literacy, 33 panchayats achieved 95% literacy, and one municipality confirmed 99% literacy.
- Remaining Challenges: Despite the achievement, there are still 4,163 individuals in Goa who remain illiterate, primarily due to age, medical conditions, or personal unwillingness to participate in the program.
- AYUSH Ministry Launches ‘Ayush Suraksha’ Portal
The Ministry of AYUSH launched the Ayush Suraksha Portal. The portal was inaugurated by Shri Prataprao Jadhav, Union Minister of State, at Ayush Bhawan, New Delhi. The official link
Purpose and Objectives:
The Ayush Suraksha Portal is designed to
- Monitor and address misleading advertisements related to AYUSH products.
- Track and analyze adverse drug reactions (ADRs) associated with traditional medicine systems, including Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, and Homeopathy (ASU&H).
- Empower citizens and healthcare professionals to report concerns, ensuring that only safe and credible products reach the public.
